Sound Mirrors

I signed up for a photography workshop that I saw advertised on Instagram so that I could get close up to these sound mirrors (AKA: Acoustic mirror - Wikipedia). There a few dotted around the country but these three are the most well known. They are located in Greatstone / Denge, near Dungeness on the south-east coast of Kent.

Quarrying happened after they were built so they are now on an island. Access is via a small swing bridge which someone from English Heritage opened and then “guarded” for a couple of hours while we wandered around trying to not get in each other’s photos.
